Conservation Management Plan
Effective conservation of heritage assets requires careful planning, and the concept for CMPs was developed 20 years ago to address World Heritage Sites and other significant heritage. It employs a Conservation-Based Research and Analysis (CoBRA) approach so that management options are designed from a well informed foundation. This approach has been adopted for many National Heritage Lottery and publically funded schemes, and it has also been applied to some developer-funded projects.
At HHD&C we study the background to a site so that a broad understanding of its values are established, what is its significance, what strengths and weaknesses and what opportunities are present, as well as identifying threats. We engage with stakeholders to ensure diverse views are represented, and devise management options for clients to choose which would best suit their objectives and budget.
