An Assisted Living Apartment

Mirrors were added to reflect more light and provide a sense of extra space.  The artificial but convincingly real plants were bought online from 'Bloom Silk Flowers' to add extra interest, colour and  'life', whilst at the same time having the benefit of requiring absolutely  no maintenance.

This client moved to a one bedroom Assisted Living Apartment from her four bedroom home. Most of her furniture was too big to bring and she felt  it was a good opportunity to buy new, the majority of which we sourced online, taking into consideration the client's budget and taste.

Our client's many books meant that a number of bookshelves were required, as were small chests of drawers for additional easy storage. She wanted a warm colour scheme of golds, creams and reds in the living room  (shown here) and we used Farrow and Ball's 'Yellow Field' on the walls. The apartment has a sunny aspect and has the added benefit of French doors leading onto a balcony. Underfloor heating meant that valuable wall space was not taken up by radiators.

Huge cut velvet silk damask curtains were sourced by us online to add a sense of warmth and luxury. Their purpose was primarily decorative due to their weight so additional voile curtains were added to provide privacy whist maintaining  light and ease of use. We also sourced the Aubusson style rug to add colour and the tall, vintage 'Hollywood Regency' floral lamps either side of the sofa. We arranged for the aged and tatty silk shades to be re-covered in the same colour bringing them back to their former glory.
